Boeing and Dynamatic Technologies Collaborate to Manufacture Critical Components for the CH-47F Chinook
January 22, 2016
In September 2014 Dynamatic Technologies and its collaborator Boeing inaugurated a plant in India to manufacture critical parts for a Boeing helicopter that is sold globally. I understand that it was a day after Make in India was launched. I am pleased to learn that the first set of parts is ready for shipment today.
Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. From the Inaugural address at Aero India 2015.
With its commitment to the ‘Make in India’ program, Boeing is accelerating its collaboration with Indian industrial partners to boost advanced manufacturing in the Indian aerospace sector, thereby building a world-class aerospace ecosystem in India.
Boeing has a state-of-the-art co-production partnership with Dynamatic Technologies to manufacture critical components for the CH-47F Chinook, an advanced heavy-lift helicopter. In February 2015 Dynamatic Technologies produced the first set of aft pylon and cargo ramp assemblies for the CH-47F Chinook helicopter.
The production of major aero structures for Boeing’s CH-47F helicopter is a major accomplishment, and is a significant milestone for the Indian aerospace industry. The Chinook is an advanced helicopter requiring complex manufacturing processes, and this ‘Make-in-India’ capability demonstrates that Indian companies can deliver high standards of quality and productivity within a competitive cost structure that is essential for the aerospace sector.
Boeing has invested considerably in development, training, tooling, and quality systems and is working closely with Dynamatic Technologies in establishing advanced manufacturing capabilities in India.
Boeing has more than 18 direct suppliers in India and about a total of 120 work on Boeing products. Boeing continues to work with them to build their capabilities.
